August is the month that Cypriots enjoy their own holidays and most of the businesses take a two to three-week breaks. It is probably the hottest month of the summer. In August during the day the temperature goes up to 32°C in Paphos and 34°C on the south-eastern coast (Limassol-Larnaca-Ayia Napa). Nicosia is always hotter and drier with cooler nights and with the highest temperatures of approximately 38°C during day time. Up on the mountains, it is always nicer and cooler with temperatures averaging to 28°C. During August nights is more humid and hotter than in July with temperatures reaching 22°C in the Paphos region, 23°C-24°C around the coastal areas coast and 22°C mainland. The minimum temperature for the mountains is 18°C. Like in July in August it almost never rains. The water temperature is the warmest in this month reaching its maximum of 28°C. Water temperature depending again on location (east, south, west) usually averages to about 26°C 64°F.

The hours of continuous sunshine are around 14 and the approximate time of sunset is19:30. Air Humidity is averaging 73% with almost no rainy days within this month as above mentioned. The average daily wind speed in August is around 14 kph (9 mph - 8 knots) in the coastal areas of Cyprus.
